Unrecognizable with my Chi Flat Iron
Do you even recognize the supermodel-esque woman in the picture to the left? I certainly didn’t! I thought maybe it was some new runway diva I hadn’t heard of yet. I was admiring her hairstyle - the long, straight blond locks and the long bangs are exactly what I’ve been wanting to do with my hair. But my hair is super curly, so I doubted it was even possible. But I brought this photo to my stylist and he said, “Oh this will be perfect for you - if Taylor Swift can get her hair straight, anyone can.” Wait a second…Taylor Swift??? I did NOT even recognize her! I asked my stylist how this could be and he said, “Well, she must have a great flat iron.” “Well,” I said, “I want one!” I asked him what brand he recommended and he said he liked this one kind that is only available to professional hairstylists but if I wanted that same quality, I should get a Chi Flat Iron. He had used one for years on his clients before switching to the “professional” one - and he really can’t tell much of a difference - except that he feels more “exclusive” with his. I told him he was lame, don’t worry. We had a good laugh and then I went and got a Chi Flat Iron on my way home. Best money I’ve spent in quite sometime. And now I know how Taylor must feel with straight hair - some of my friends haven’t recognized me when I run into them - how funny is that?

Ok, ok, that is a bit of a stretch. My marriage is not on the rocks and a straightening iron can’t really be a marriage counselor. I’ve tried using shampoos and products that “straighten.” I have spent way too much time blowing out my hair which always ends up being a waste of time, since my hair still looks too poufy. I’ve heard that you can make curls and waves in your hair using your flat iron. Is this true!? If it is, I’m going to throw out my curling iron tomorrow! Why bother keeping two different tools around, taking up space in my small bathroom, if I could just learn to make my trusty Chi flat iron pull double duty? Apparently, all you have to do to make your Chi flat iron produce loose, sexy curls is to pull the iron through your hair like normal, but twist in whichever direction you want the curl or wave to go. Sounds pretty easy! I’ll probably need to spend some time practicing before I can give up on my curling iron completely though. Apparently, this is a trick that all of the big stylists to the stars use all the time. Can’t wait to try it!
How Much Did Your Flat Iron Cost?
I’ve had the same tired old flat iron since I started high school - and I’m halfway through college now! I really want to invest in a new iron, but I’m a starving student, so I’m on a strict budget. How much does a good quality flat iron normally cost? I wouldn’t want to spend more than 40 or 50 dollars, if possible. I really have my heart set on a Chi flat iron, because I hear they’re great and really easy to use, but I don’t want to break the bank. Are they expensive? A friend of mine said they’re actually affordable, but since she comes from a really wealthy family I’m not sure our definitions of “affordable” are necessarily the same! However, I’ve been doing a little research online and I do think I can get a Chi flat iron without going over my budget. I can’t wait! My old flat iron is going straight in the trash.
